Anxiety and Depression

154397297Anxiety and depression share some common threads.

Sometimes, they are short-lived. For instance, we can become anxious about performance during a speech or finances. Depression may reflect feeling sad or down for a short while.

At the same time, if they persist for long periods, underlying causes probably need addressing before they impact our lives. Anxiety and depression may differ concerning those causes.

Persistent anxiety can result in constant worrying about what might happen, and when something triggers that anxiety, we respond emotionally and physically. Depression shares many of those responses with anxiety, but the life events causing depression differ from those seen for anxiety.

When either anxiety or depression occurs, therapy can help.

Anxiety and depression often come up in both individual and couples therapy. These are terms frequently discussed in terms of a diagnosis in the realm of psychology. Furthermore, they are thrown about in many conversations as if to say they are normal feelings in everyday life.

But what if that is not the case? What if there is a new way to look at anxiety and depression so that one can experience hope and joy and not feel weighed down by the concerns of the world?

As noted above, long-term anxiety and depression are not typical, and if not addressed, they can impact your entire life – making it difficult to feel joy, have friendships, and live a life full of hope.
